If you want to know some of the common symptoms of an
anxiety attack, then this article was written for you. In
particular, we are going to look at symptoms most people have,
some of the causes for these symptoms, and some of the most
effective solutions available. By the time you have finished
reading this article, you will know more about why you have
anxiety attacks, and what you can do to overcome them.
Let's start by looking at the common symptoms shared by
anxiety sufferers. Anxiety usually starts with sweating, a
pounding heart, trembling or shaking, and dizziness. Often, the
fear of losing control of a situation or event also plays a
deciding factor. People who feel anxious around other people,
usually feel more comfortable if they feel like they are in
control and an "escape route". In some cases, a panic attack
can become more severe and lead to hyperventilation.
So what are the causes of anxiety and panic attacks?
Sometimes the reasons can be biological in nature. It could be
something as simple as a vitamin B defciency, which can be
helped with supplements.
Some scientific studies have also shown that anxiety can be
heredity, which means it's "passed down" genetically through
your family. Don't let this fool you into thinking you can't
overcome your anxiety though! You don't have to live with
anxiety forever, once you've learned how to handle it.
Another common cause is negative self talk and predictive
thinking. This means you're talking to yourself in a negative
way, and expecting the worse to happen. Logically, you can't
predict the future - but that doesn't stop your over-active
mind from analyzing various outcomes and expecting the worst
thing to happen.
So what solutions are available? One of the most popular
therapies is CBT. This stands for cognitive behavioural
therapy, and it helps you look at your thoughts in a new light,
and see where you're creating your anxiety based on how you're
thinking.
Also, prescribed drugs are sometimes given to stop anxiety
and panic attacks, but long term use may cause dependence - and
it doesn't treat the source of the problem.
Something you can start doing straight away to relieve
anxiety is to change your "self talk". This means how you talk
to yourself in your own mind. Learn to notice predictive
thinking, and realize that you're creating your own anxiety -
then you'll be able to control how you feel by changing your
thoughts.
